Leather Pet Play Neck Collar

A pet play collar is a collar a person wears during pup or pet play to show their role, usually with a ring where a handler can clip a lead. This one is cut from full-grain cowhide, padded on the inside and fitted with a solid metal buckle and D-rings.

It is made to order by hand. You choose a ready size from S to XXL, or send your neck measurement for a custom fit.

• Full-grain cowhide. This is the top layer of the hide, so it keeps its natural grain. It starts firm and softens as it warms to your neck.

• Padded inner lining. A quilted pad runs around the inside of the band. It spreads the pressure when a lead is attached, so the edge does not dig in.

• Solid metal D-rings. Clip a lead, a name tag or a pup tag straight onto the ring.

• Buckle fastening. The strap passes through a metal buckle and tucks into a keeper loop, so it stays put during play.

• Hand-cut, double-stitched seams. Two rows of stitching hold each seam, and rivets fix the hardware through the leather.

• Custom sizing. Choose Custom Order and send your neck measurement. Custom pieces are adjusted free until the fit is right.

How to Use It

Open the buckle, wrap the collar round the base of your neck and pass the strap through. Set it on the hole that lets you slide two fingers flat under the band, then tuck the strap end into the keeper.

For pup play, the handler clips a lead to the D-ring. Use the lead to guide, not to pull. Agree a stop word or a hand signal before you start, since a pup in headspace may not speak.

Using it as a leather BDSM collar

In a bondage scene the D-rings give you an anchor point for a lead or a short chain. Never tie the collar to anything fixed, never take body weight through it and never leave a collared person alone.

Take the collar off at once if the wearer feels dizzy or short of breath.

Sizing and Fit

Measure around the base of your neck with a soft tape, where the collar will sit. Keep the tape flat and snug, not tight.

Pick the size where your measurement falls in the middle of the range. That leaves holes free either side for a snug or a loose setting. If you sit between sizes, choose Custom Order and enter your measurement.

A good fit lets two fingers slide flat under the band. Tighter than that is unsafe. Looser and the collar slides round, so the D-ring moves off the front.

Care and Cleaning

Wipe the collar with a damp cloth after each wear to lift sweat and skin oils. Let it dry at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sun, which crack leather.

Rub in a leather conditioner twice a year, or sooner if the surface looks dry. Wipe off the excess and let it sit overnight before you wear it.

Do not soak the collar or put it in a washing machine. Dry the metal fittings after cleaning and store the collar flat or hung up, out of a sealed plastic bag.
